Renovate
Your Smile
Your smile says a lot
about you. A person's smile is often the first thing someone
notices, and people who smile often are generally perceived as
likable, capable individuals. If your smile is not as attractive as
you would like it to be, it can hurt your confidence. Making the
decision to renovate your smile can benefit you socially,
professionally, and personally. Isn't it time to look and feel
better?
Advances In
Dentistry
Cosmetic
dentistry has made dramatic advances in recent times. No matter
what condition your smile is currently in, Dr. Peace can likely
help you create a smile you love. Chips, cracks, discolouration --
problems like these are easily remedied with anterior veneers.
Porcelain crowns can restore damaged teeth while looking completely
natural. In our office, we also use the CEREC system, which allows
us to make your crowns or veneers on-site. This means that you can
often have your entire procedure performed in one appointment
rather than having to return repeatedly. The CEREC machine allows
us to make a digital mold of your teeth. It then mills your
customized restoration, which Dr. Peace can place right away. Dr.
Peace can also restore your implants if the need arises.
CEREC
Restorations
|
|
These
computerized machines are used to design and manufacture crowns and
other porcelain restorations “while you wait”. A high-grade block
of factory produced porcelain is shaped to fit your tooth using a
precision milling chamber which is radio-controlled by the design
computer.
With CEREC
dentistry beautiful porcelain restorations can usually be completed
in ONE APPOINTMENT - no temporary restorations and no second visit.
We realize your time is important and we are very excited to be
able to perform this service for you. A computer is used to take
optical impressions, to design and to mill your final restoration
from a block of colour coordinated porcelain.
Because of the
latest bonding techniques much more of your natural tooth structure
can be preserved while still strengthening the tooth. Inlays and
onlays can often be used instead of crowns. These are especially
useful when replacing mercury-amalgam or "silver" fillings which
often severely weaken your teeth and cause them to
fracture.

Porcelain
Veneers
Porcelain
veneers can be used to improve the colour, shape, position and
strength of teeth. Veneers are thin layers of beautifully crafted
porcelain that are custom-made to fit your teeth. The veneers are
bonded directly to the teeth using space-age technology. They are
very durable and look so natural that they are virtually
undetectable. Veneers are a more conservative alternative to crowns
since they require less removal of tooth structure. Veneers are an
ideal choice for improving your smile while making your teeth
stronger. Veneers are individually designed for each patient to
enhance the characteristics of their smile.
Porcelain veneers
give you the opportunity to instantly renew your smile. Ideal for
the front teeth, porcelain veneers improve your overall smile by
bonding new "fronts" on existing teeth. Porcelain veneers allow us
to reshape teeth, straighten the crooked ones, and make them
whiter. All this is possible in two visits about two weeks apart.
Between appointments, attractive temporary veneers are placed which
are similar in shape and design to your new smile.

Instant
Orthondontics
One of the most
truly exciting and truly amazing procedures that we can do with
cosmetic techniques is instantly straighten one's teeth. Believe it
or not, we can straighten crooked teeth in just two short visits
that are just a couple of weeks apart. And we can do it without
braces! We do this by "reshaping" the crooked teeth with porcelain
veneers.
Porcelain
crowns can be used to change the position and rotation of teeth.
This can limit or eliminate the need for braces in order to improve
the appearance of teeth. Once they are bonded to your teeth, you
instantly have a beautiful, straight smile. You can even whiten
your teeth at the same time. This gives you a beautiful long
lasting result and improved function, just as if you had spent
years wearing braces. Ask us how we can "instantly" straighten your
teeth.

Bleaching or
Tooth Whitening
No
matter how well you look after your teeth, over time some yellowing
or discolouration occurs. Often dramatic improvement can be
achieved through the simple procedure of "bleaching". Many people
attain the smile they have hoped for much easier than they
expected.
A clear, thin,
flexible "film" is custom made to fit over your teeth. Plaster
models of your teeth are used to fabricate this "film". A special
gel is the bleaching agent that you put in the film before placing
on your teeth. In only one hour per day for a week or two, this gel
penetrates the microscopic surface roughness of your enamel and
removes the stain that has built up over the years. After one to
five years the teeth may discolour somewhat, at which time a
"refresh" or "touchup" is indicated.
The teeth, gums
and any existing dental work are not altered. Although, some people
experience a temporary sensitivity.
With excessive
discolouration, sometimes bleaching does not achieve the desired
effect - then veneers or crowns can be used to reach the shade you
want.
Cosmetic
Imaging
Now, with the
magic of computers, it is possible to preview your new smile before
any treatment is actually undertaken. Say that you saw the preview
and want to make some other changes. We can virtually make any
changes that you might prefer and then you can decide if you like
them before you do anything.
Dental
Implants
Whether
you need a single tooth or a whole mouthful, dental implants are a
way to permanently replace missing teeth. An implant is a man-made
tooth root to which we attach a crown or bridge. Implants are
particularly helpful for patients that have problems with dentures.
Implants can make dentures completely stable. Implants are the
solution for replacing missing
teeth.
Intraoral
Camera
When
Dr. Peace examines your teeth he often uses an intraoral camera to
show you inside your mouth. Patients are often amazed at what they
can see with magnification - up to 150 times larger onto a TV
monitor. It helps us correctly diagnose problems better, earlier,
and more accurately.
Microdentistry
We provide air
abrasion as a way to perform microdentistry. Microdentistry is the
philosophy and practice of finding and treating decay as early as
possible. Microdentistry means removing as little tooth structure
as possible, making the smallest possible restoration (filling) and
assuring those restorations are long lasting and look
natural.
Air abrasion
replaces the drill on many small cavities. A gentle stream
of air carries fine ceramic particles which remove the decay
without
heat or vibration and hence many times freezing is not needed. By
controlling the speed and intensity of both the powder and the air,
the procedure is usually virtually painless. Smaller fillings can
be done than with a drill and because there is often no freezing,
more than one area of the mouth can be filled. Often one
appointment is possible rather than many!
